Purina Mills to Extend its Horse Owner's Workshop Program, Bringing Equine Education and Entertainment to Towns Across America Horse Tack - Press Release
Officials for Purina Mills Horse Business Group confirmed today that they plan to extend their largest horse event of the year, The Purina Mills Horse Owner's Workshop (HOW). How is a traveling program
designed to provide horse owners with valuable information about equine
nutrition, veterinary issues, training techniques, new gear, products and
more.
"HOW is without question the most popular and most successful program we've
ever created," said Dr. Scott King, D.V.M., Marketing Manager Purina Mills
Horse Business Group. "Every year, more Purina Mills dealers offer this
program and more horse owners come out and participate. It's a growing
fun-filled community, where everyone learns and laughs.
The Purina Mills Horse Owner's Workshop gives horse lovers the chance to get
first-hand information and interact with equine specialists and
professionals in a local setting, which wouldn't normally be available.
Purina Mills officials stress the importance of bringing the event to local
communities. This strategy allows events to be customized, where topics of
local interest can be integrated with overall messages with universal
appeal.
HOW also offers a money-saving benefit to those who attend. All
participants receive valuable coupons ranging from rebates on trucks to
discounts on equine products used in the barn every day.
"Another great element of HOW is our sweepstakes," added King. "We decided
to do something a little different this year. We're offering a
once-in-a-lifetime equine travel package, featuring a Colorado riding
vacation and a ton of new gear, worth over $10,000. It's something special
a lot of people dream of, but just never do. The sweepstakes lets that
dream come true for someone."
"But that's just the Grand Prize. We'll also be giving away four John Deere
ATVs as regional prizes. The opportunities really are limitless here. And
with the coupons, rebates and special offers, everyone walks away with
something pretty substantial," said a smiling King, as he thumbed trough the
HOW handouts and coupons.
Purina Mills officials will also encourage local horse owners to take part
in a popular feed trial, designed specifically for HOW participants: the
Omolene Challenge. The trial feeding program offers local residents the
opportunity to get two free bags of Omolene when they buy two bags,
providing essentially a month's feed for a horse. Purina Mills claims that
by switching feed, the horse will have a shinier coat, brighter eyes, better
physical appearance and possibly even an improved attitude in as little as
30 days.
Nutritional information is still the essential force behind HOW. But
recognizing the need for a more well-rounded forum, Purina Mills chose to
bring in other companies and veterinarians to make HOW a one-stop for horse
owners. This progressive approach seems to be resonating with everyone who
attends.
Founded in 1894, Purina Mills Brands are recognized today as the category
leaders in animal nutrition. Purina Mills feeds over one million horses per
day, as well as a host of other animals, ranging from domestic livestock to
wild birds and deer to zoological animals.
