January 30, 2004 - American Quarter Horse Association Corporate Partner, Justin Brands, Inc. is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2004. Long heralded as "the Standard of the West," Justin Boot Company® concluded a national media campaign with a star-studded event on Thursday, January 22.
More than 1,000 guests attended the anniversary celebration at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, including Fort Worth dignitaries, Justin family descendants and celebrity endorsees. The private reception featured authentic cowboy décor (including a replica of the original H.J. Justin store front), memorabilia of the Justin heritage, historical photos depicting the history of Justin Boot Company® and a congratulatory video featuring tributes from celebrity fans.
Festivities also included a rodeo with bareback riding, celebrity team roping, barrel racing, chuck wagon racing, bull riding and other specialty acts. Featuring award-winning PRCA announcer Bob Tallman, the rodeo featured such stars as Tuff Hedeman, Mark Gomes and Pete Hawkins. Live entertainment followed, provided by Asleep at the Wheel.
"I'm proud to be associated with such a wonderful brand," said Nolan Ryan, a baseball hall of famer and member of the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund (JCCF) board of directors. "The Justin Boot Company and I have been friends for a long time. The longevity of our relationship can be contributed to two factors - great people and a great product. Congratulations Justin!"
The Justin Boot Company® is introducing a limited edition anniversary boot that features the anniversary logo embroidered in red, black and white stitching on the upper of the boot with red Texas star inlays around a white collar. It will be made of black Italian kangaroo and will have the popular J-Flex comfort built into the boots. Justin will also make a version available in their signature Roper style. The boots also will mark the occasion by including the years of 1879 and 2004 stitched on the pull straps.
These will be available to consumers at participating Western stores in 2004.
Justin's "Walk in Our Boots" anniversary tour is taking the company's president on a high impact road trip. The tour is
showcasing real boot-makers demonstrating the boot-making process, as well as a display of boots from the last 125 years and other historical memorabilia. The tour started earlier this month in Dallas and is scheduled to travel to Houston; San Antonio; Austin, Texas; Oklahoma City; Tulsa, Okla.; Albuquerque; Phoenix; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Atlanta; Chicago; and New York City.
