Join Taylor Outfitters for a Wind River Wilderness Watercolor horse pack trip August 23-27, 2004 featuring renowned artist Gary Keimig as the instructor. This pack trip is an opportunity for artists and enthusiasts to learn about new watercolor techniques, color, light and texture in a wilderness setting.
The Wind River horsepack trip itinerary is geared for the diverse interests of anyone who enjoys art and wilderness. The backcountry camp is located at Whiskey Mountain with side trips to Ross Lake, Jakey’s Fork, and other areas to see the landscapes in various degrees of light and from different perspectives. There will also be day rides or hikes offered to various lakes and streams to fish, so a Wyoming fishing license and conservation stamp and gear if you fish.
Enroute there's a wide diversity of wildflowers and wildlife including moose, elk, mule deer, bighorn sheep, raptors and migratory songbirds. This is the Fitzpatrick Wilderness, now considered one of the most spectacular wildernesses in Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. The opportunities for capturing the wide open vistas of the Wind River Range in watercolor are endless. Tory and Meredith Taylor are the naturalist guides on the wilderness packtrip. They provide all camping supplies and equipment except for sleeping bags, pads and personal gear including watercolor art supplies.
Gary's art reflects his love of the West, the Wyoming Wind River Range, the wildlife and diverse landscapes. He is particularly interested in wild places and the effect of light on his subjects. He is touched by the awesome and simple spirit of nature and considers his work successful when the viewer is equally touched and catches a glimpse of that enduring spirit of wilderness and meaning within themselves.
