Cañon Ridge Farms welcomes Olympic Bronze Medalist and 2003 World Cup Finals Champion Debbie McDonald September 17-18, 2005 as part of the USDF Instructor Certification Program. McDonald will lead the Pre-Certification program for Certified Instructor candidates. This will be McDonald’s only session in the program for 2005.

“We are thrilled that Debbie McDonald is coming to Colorado,” said Deborah Cranston, Cañon Ridge Farms’ owner. “When the USDF asked us if we would like to host the event, we jumped at the chance.” This is the second USDF program held at Cañon Ridge Farms. In 2004, the USDF Trainers Symposium, featuring Kathy Connelly was held at the farm. Attendees came from around the country to learn from Connelly.

The USDF Pre-Certification program is a mock testing situation designed to help candidates become familiar with the testing format. Riding, teaching, lungeing and oral sessions are conducted. McDonald will provide each candidate with a score sheet and an evaluation of his or her presentation. Those that are ready can register for the final exam and hopefully become USDF Certified Instructors, an elite classification.

“I think it’s a fantastic program,” McDonald said of the USDF Instructor Certification. “We need guidelines so not everyone can just hang out a shingle as a trainer.” McDonald was a member of the silver medal winning team at the 2002 World Championships, among many international accomplishments. For more information on the program on September 17-18 contact Pam Geier via the RMDS office at 720-890-7825 or visit www.usdf.org for complete information on the certification program.

Cañon Ridge Farms is committed to making their state of the art facility available for educational programs. Also on the 2005 calendar is a Rocky Mountain Dressage Society sponsored riding and conformation clinic with Kathy Connelly and Toine Hoefs scheduled for October 14-16, 2005. Visit www.canonridgefarms.com for a complete schedule of special events.

Cañon Ridge Farms is a premier boarding, training and sales facility for those dedicated to dressage.
