Horse Tack

Safe and comfortable, Best Friendô Grazing Muzzles are recommended by equine health professionals to prevent, as well as treat Laminitis, founder, and obesity. Best Friendô Grazing Muzzles can also be used as a training tool to discourage bad habits such as nipping and cribbing.

Best Friendô Grazing Muzzles are available in two styles: Deluxe (shown above) and Standard. The body of each muzzle is made of soft, comfortable webbing with neoprene padding on the noseband to help prevent rubbing. The bottom is made of flexible and durable reinforced rubber. Both designs have a breakaway feature that will hold in place under normal circumstances, yet will break away if a horse panics and struggles to free itself. This feature greatly reduces the risk of injury to the horse.

The Best Friendô Deluxe Grazing Muzzle is a combination Grazing Muzzle and breakaway halter all-in-one. The design utilizes a plastic side-release buckle as its breakaway feature. Each Deluxe muzzle comes with a spare buckle that can be easily attached in the field.

To use, adjust The Best Friendô Deluxe Grazing Muzzle to the horse using the same principles as the fit of a comfortable halter. Leave approximately one inch between the horse's mouth and the inside of the muzzle. The Deluxe muzzle has a roomy fit to allow for chewing. You should be able to fit two to three fingers sideways between your horse's face and the muzzle.

This is our most popular design because it is so easy to use and costs less than purchasing a separate breakaway halter.

The Best Friendô Standard Grazing Muzzle attaches to your own leather or breakaway halter with four adjustable hook-and-loop straps. To attach, loop the four straps over the noseband and chinstrap. (The two side straps may be looped through the halter rings for added stability.) Leave the metal rings in the down position to allow the muzzle to breakaway. To disable the breakaway feature, slide the metal rings up (see photo) over the hook-and-loop straps.

The muzzles are entirely synthetic, and therefore rot-free and easily cleaned. To clean, simply hose off the dirt or swish the muzzle in a bucket of water.

Each muzzle is packaged in a vinyl bag that is reusable as a grooming tote.

Best Friendô Grazing Muzzles may be ordered directly from Best Friend Equine Supply, Inc. or select Retail Outlets. See their website at www.bestfriendequine.com for retailers in your area.
