Farnam Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Sponsorship of Special Horse Publication
Farnam Companies Inc., the largest marketer of equine products in the United States, today announced that in celebration of its 60th Anniversary, it is the exclusive sponsor of EQUUS Magazine’s first-ever special issue, “Healthy Horse: A Wellness Guide.” The special issue, which hits newsstands May 9, underscores Farnam’s commitment to its consumers and to the industry it has served for more than 60 years. In addition to approximately 10,000 issues available on newsstands at a cover price of $3.99, the wellness guide will be mailed to EQUUS’ more than 140,000 subscribers, including more than 7,000 equine veterinarians. Farnam, a longtime advertiser in EQUUS, has appeared in every issue since the publication’s inception in 1977.
“Throughout its 60-year legacy, Farnam has demonstrated a commitment to consumers that echoes our dedication to the horse and our service to a significant and growing number of horse owners,” said Susan Harding, vice president and group publishing director of the PRIMEDIA Equine Network. “Together, we saw this as an opportunity to deliver a guide that better educates horse owners and enthusiasts nationwide.” The guide is being mailed to all EQUUS subscribers at no additional cost.
The special issue of EQUUS is a comprehensive and practical health and wellness guide full of horse care tips and reliable step-by-step action plans incorporating the advice and wisdom of top industry experts and researchers. The publication encompasses everything from feeds and nutritional supplements to products for maintaining and protecting hooves, preparations to control internal and external parasites and shampoos and conditioners that increase the luster of a horse’s coat. Farnam, as the only advertiser in the issue, will have 40 ads promoting its extensive lines of horse care products.
“We partnered with EQUUS on this special issue as a way to showcase our commitment to our many consumers who have horse care at top of their minds,” said Chris Jacobi, president of Farnam’s Horse Products Division. “The wellness guide provides a wealth of information that horse owners will want to keep as a reference, and seemed to us a logical and exciting extension for EQUUS. We are pleased to serve as a sponsor, in particular as we celebrate our 60 years serving the equine industry.”
Farnam’s commitment to the industry is also demonstrated through its partnership with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), the United States Equestrian Federation® (USEF) and the American Farriers Association (AFA). In addition, Farnam is the inaugural sponsor of the Farnam®/Platform™ Horse of the Year Award – (an honor much like the long-established Equestrian of the Year), the presenting sponsor of the Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event, and the official fly control products sponsor of the United States Equestrian Team, helping to raise funds to support the U.S. Team at the World Equestrian Games this year in Aachen, Germany.
Proving its editorial distinction, EQUUS magazine holds an unprecedented 19 American Horse Publications General Excellence awards as well as the U.S. Equestrian Federation’s Pegasus Media Awards’ 2005 Publication of the Year.
