Show Circuit Salutes Legendary Equestrian Michael Matz
Phelps Media Group, Inc.
Monarch International’s Show Circuit magazine, the nation’s premier lifestyle magazine for equestrian culture, is pleased to showcase the achievements of renowned horseman Michael Matz. Show Circuit’s Summer issue features an article on Matz that recognizes his illustrious career and impressive history as one of our nation’s top show jumping competitors. The piece explores his transition from an Olympic Show Jumping veteran to a talented racehorse trainer who recently coached Barbaro to victory in the 2006 Kentucky Derby.
"We are delighted and honored to cover the equestrian icon Michael Matz in our summer issue,” stated Jami Morse Heidegger, owner of Show Circuit magazine. “We are especially thrilled that, based on her long-standing relationship with Michael, writer Jenny Kappler was able to utilize her personal connection to Michael to capture such an insightful look into his well-rounded life and career in the racing world. Show Circuit magazine extends best wishes to Barbaro for a speedy recovery, as he faces the challenges that lie ahead of him.”
The article offers exclusive comments from Matz about working with racehorses in comparison to show jumpers, and it reflects upon his numerous successes as an equestrian. Karen Golding, who is now one of the top USEF and FEI Stewards in the United States, relates to Show Circuit her previous experiences as Matz’s stable manager. She discusses what she learned from him as a horseman, athlete, and friend.
