Hello, my name is Kristi Teklinski and I am the Owner of Horse Tack Review. I would first like to thank you for clicking on the link in showing your interest in helping to raise money for blood related cancers. Second, you will see how you can do so. Horse Tack Review, is active in supporting my (twin) sister Kara in her endeavors with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training raises money towards cures for blood cancers like leukemia -- the No. 1 disease killer of children -- lymphoma and myeloma. How serious is blood cancer? Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that he or she has leukemia, Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every ten minutes, someone dies of a blood cancer.
Please read on to learn more about Kara and her goal to raise $10,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and complete her first Ironman.... and please help her reach this goal...
Welcome to my Ironman dream. Why, you might ask, would I want to train for ten months to swim, bike and run for 15+ hours straight? The answer is: because I can.
Almost two years ago I made a decision to accomplish my goal of completing a marathon. Since then I have completed two marathons, one half-marathon, one Olympic distance triathlon and two half-Ironman distance triathlons (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run), and raised close to $10,000 for cancer research. And in there somewhere learned to swim, bike and run.
What next? Now... I am training to complete an Ironman triathlon, the ultimate endurance event, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training IRONTEAM. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
Why would I do such a thing? Not only for the physical challenge, but I am rather addicted to doing events with TNT, and fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Through the Team, Iíve met several children and adults who are alive today because of new drugs and new uses for existing drugs that have greatly improved cure rates or remission duration for leukemia patients. With both family and friends being attacked by cancer, this is my way of trying to make a difference. While your donation directly supports those with blood cancers, I feel that a donation towards finding a cure to one type of cancer is a step in the right direction to help find a cure for all cancers. My challenge of completing an Ironman lasts for only a day, but for those battling cancer, it lasts their whole life until there is a cure.
I am asking you to join me in helping the millions of beneficiaries of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by donating online right now. Completing the donation form online only takes a minute and it is totally secure. Be sure to check if your company offers any matching programs for charitable donations Ė you could double your money!!! I also encourage you to pass on this information on to as many as possible, to anyone else who might be interested in helping this cause. Whether or not you are able to contribute, I welcome your good wishes, positive vibes. Last year many of you took a moment to drop me a note of encouragement during my training, and I used your words and thoughts as motivation as I swam, biked, and ran. With an even bigger challenge ahead this year, Iím sure I will value them even more.
