2004 Maui Jim Wayne Horse Trials to Feature New Divisions of Competition - Get Your Young Event Horses Going!

The 2004 Maui Jim Wayne Horse Trials will highlight several new divisions of competition. The event will be held on July 9, 10 and 11 at Lamplight Equestrian Center and the Pratt Wayne Forest Preserve in Wayne, Illinois. The usual levels will be run - Advanced, Open and Young Rider Intermediate, Open and Junior Preliminary, and Open and Junior Training - but this year, the overall divisions will be further divided to offer Young Event Horse Divisions at all four levels.

In order to be eligible, horses must be qualified for the level entered. Young Training horses are defined as 4 and 5 year olds for Training, 5 and 6 year olds for Preliminary , and 6 and 7 year olds for Intermediate and Advanced.

The second new division to be offered will be the Aloha Challenge at Novice sponsored by the Wayne DuPage Horse Trials, Inc.. This division will be open to horse/rider combinations who have won first through third in Novice at a recognized Horse Trials between July 10, 2003 and June 22, 2004. $1500 prize money will be offered for this division along with a ten percent add back, (ten percent of each entry fee will go to the winner in addition to the sponsored amount which will be divided among the first four places).

Maui Jim, Inc. is returning as title sponsor of the competition, and Bank One Corporation has signed on as Cross Country Phase sponsor. The event benefits the Illinois Wisconsin Search Dogs Organization (presented by USEA) as well as the programs representing the Illinois Special Olympics Equestrian Competition which takes place on Sunday, July 11 at Lamplight alongside the show jumping phase of the Horse Trials.
