Horse Tack - Saddle Pads and Girths

ThinLine Inc., makers of the famous ThinLine Saddle Pads®, has added several new items to its ever-expanding line of popular, horse-friendly products. The Sheepskin Comfort Pad® features the benefits of ThinLine® and sheepskin in one pad, making a great everyday pad for all types of horses. Three new ThinLine® girths also join the family. The ThinLine Dressage Girth®, ThinLine Hunter/Jumper Girth®, and Western ThinLine Cinch® offer the beauty of European leather and manufacturing, with the advantages of ThinLine®. With supporters like Olympians Steffen Peters and Chris Kappler, the new items are already creating raving fans.

“The response to our ThinLine Saddle Pads® has been overwhelmingly positive,” says ThinLine Inc.’s President Elaine Lockhead. “We are excited to take ThinLine technology into other products.”

The Sheepskin Comfort Pad® (shown) is ideal for those that want the convenience of a single saddle pad and is perfect for everyday use on all horses. Made from top of the line, medical grade sheepskin and Ultra ThinLine®, this pad is quickly becoming a trainer favorite. “We have a lot of trainers that are customers and they are ordering these pads for their entire barns,” Lockhead continues. “All of the ThinLine® pads help keep horse and rider comfortable.”

Ultra ThinLine® is 3/16” thick open cell foam with superior shock absorbing qualities that delivers 95% shock absorption and eliminates pressure points, which can help prevent back pain in both horse and rider. ThinLine® also is 100% breathable, ensuring that heat isn’t trapped underneath the saddle.

Lockhead reports, “Riders tell us that the shock absorbing properties of ThinLine® help stabilize the riding position and minimize excessive movement in the upper leg and lower back.” The result is a closer contact feel that creates more effective communication through the seat. Like all ThinLine Saddle Pads®, the Sheepskin Comfort Pad® encourages horses to move and jump through the back, making it ideal not only for the sensitive backed horse, but for athletic horses of all disciplines.

Grand Prix show jumper Schuyler Riley uses the Sheepskin Comfort Pad® on her horse Nottingham, who has experienced some back pain in the past. “At his first show in a ThinLine® pad, Notty jumped three days in a row without having a pole down,” Riley says. “Two weeks later a bone scan showed his back to be pain free! I even noticed a difference in my back. I now plan on using ThinLine® on all my top horses!” The Sheepskin Comfort Pad® is available in black, white and natural. It also features pockets for shims (sold separately) for minor saddle fitting adjustments.

All three ThinLine ® girths are also quickly becoming rider favorites. Lined with ThinLine® material, these girths are beautifully manufactured of European leather. The breathable, anti-microbial and no-slip/no-rub ThinLine® lining helps keep your horse comfortable and your saddle in place. It’s easy to clean and very durable, like all ThinLine® products. “We are really proud of the ThinLine® girths,” says Lockhead. “They are a great example of traditional beauty meeting modern technology to produce useful and attractive products.” The girths are available in black, dark brown, mahogany, tobacco and light tobacco. The ThinLine Dressage Girth® and Western ThinLine Cinch® is sized from 55-80 centimeters in 5-centimeter increments. The ThinLine Hunter/Jumper Girth® is available in 100-150 centimeters in 5-centimeter increments.
