2007 World's Greatest Horseman Bob Avila Endorses Farnam Horse Products
Farnam Companies, Inc. is excited to announce the endorsement of its horse products by Bob Avila, the 2007 National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) World’s Greatest Horseman. Avila won the title this year while riding Light N Fine, nicknamed “Polo” because he was bred by Polo Ranch, owned by Alan and Kay Needle. Avila won his first World’s Greatest Championship in 2000 riding Paid By Chic, owned by Jim Dunn and Jim Babcock.
“Bob Avila has been a leader in the horse industry for more than 20 years. He is a world champion rider and trainer of world champion horses,” said Chris Jacobi, senior vice president of Farnam Horse Products. “Like all professional equestrians, Avila knows high quality products can help promote peak performance in competition and training.”
Avila first started showing horses in the Lead Line class at the Mounted Patrol Grounds in Woodside, Calif.; he was five years old and still has the buckle he won in his trophy case. After winning that first buckle he said he wore it so much he wore the eyes right off the horse’s head. Turning pro at age 19, Avila has participated in both English and Western classes, and doesn’t think there is a single class in horse shows he hasn’t participated in.
Avila owns and operates Avila Training Stables, which is also a breeding facility with 110 horses, mostly Quarter Horses and a few Paints – but he also runs a few cattle there to train the horses on. Thus far in his career, Avila has trained more than 35 world champion or reserve world champion Quarter Horses, in events ranging from performance to halter.
“I’ve been using Farnam horse products all my life, almost a family tradition, I grew up with them,” said NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman, Bob Avila. “I particularly like the fly sprays and the Vetrolin® line of grooming products. They do the job I want done.”
