For years, horse owners have praised the popular line of COWBOY MAGIC® quality grooming products and the original product, COWBOY MAGIC® DETANGLER™ & SHINE. The Anaheim, California-based company has gained a devoted following of loyal customers who swear they won’t use anything else on their equine companions. Professional dog groomers have also discovered the magic of COWBOY MAGIC®, and they, too, are singing its praises.
“Professional dog groomers and show dog owners discovered COWBOY MAGIC® DETANGLER™ & SHINE more than a decade ago,” says COWBOY MAGIC® President and Founder Jim Cummings. “We have never advertised or targeted our marketing efforts in that direction until now.”
The product’s popularity spread not as the result of aggressive marketing and but rather by word-of-mouth. As word quickly spread through the dog world, Cummings realized that a whole new market was opening up for all his products—and he is positioning his company to reach that market.
To promote COWBOY MAGIC® DETANGLER™ & SHINE, Cummings coined a tag line for professional dog groomers: "Dog Grooming's Best Kept Secret!”
The COWBOY MAGIC® DETANGLER™ & SHINE, the first COWBOY MAGIC® grooming product created by the COWBOY MAGIC company, can now be found in use in professional grooming shops around the country. The detangler and conditioning product works on a dog’s hair just as well as it does on a horse’s mane and tail to remove mats and detangle even the most stubborn knots. Matted hair combs smooth again, without breakage and with no greasy residue left behind. Hair is soft, shiny and silky. Furthermore, the alcohol-free formula contains silk proteins to soften and condition the coat and skin. Like their horse owner counterparts, professional dog groomers have become loyal customers who swear they won’t use anything else on their clients’ beloved canine companions.
COWBOY MAGIC® was founded by Cummings in 1995, and its products are currently available in 4,500 retail locations worldwide. “I reformulated the very best and most expensive human hair care detangler for equine use,” said Cummings. “I marketed it to horse owners as an affordable product that they could use on both their horses and their own hair. It has been a huge success.”
The COWBOY MAGIC® line of quality grooming products, which can be used on both horses and humans, includes DETANGLER & SHINE, ROSEWATER SHAMPOO, ROSEWATER DEMINERALIZER CONDITIONER, SUPER BODYSHINE™, GREENSPOT® REMOVER and SHINE IN YELLOWOUT™. Additional products include DRY SKIN LOTION for hardworking hands and Medicated KRUDBUSTER™ , Medicated RAINROT™ SHAMPOO and Medicated THRUSH KILLER for horses.
“All Cowboy Magic products, with the exception of KRUDBUSTER™, RAINROT™ SHAMPOO, and Medicated THRUSH KILLER are manufactured under human cosmetic guidelines,” says Cummings. “As a result, all ingredients are listed on the label, product quality control standards are regulated and manufacturing standards are higher than those required for products manufactured for animal use only. Each COWBOY MAGIC® product is clinically tested and Dermatologist reviewed. During the clinical test a minimum of 50 people wear a patch of COWBOY MAGIC® against their skin 24 hours a day for 30 days. The test determines allergy free skin reaction. Only after COWBOY MAGIC® passes this test can the statement "Clinically Tested Dermatologist Reviewed" be printed on the label. Although it costs more to manufacture and market COWBOY MAGIC® products under these high standards, it ensures that our customers are getting what they expect from the product they are paying for. And because our products are concentrated, they work better, last longer and cost less.”
Medicated KRUDBUSTER™, Medicated RAINROT™ SHAMPOO and Medicated THRUSH KILLER are all classified as over-the-counter-drugs and are manufactured and labeled according to FDA OTC guidelines. “Quality standards for these three products are even higher,” says Cummings. “Years of active-ingredient testing are required to validate product effectiveness. Label statements are regulated to ensure that no misleading statements are made, all ingredients are listed on the label and active ingredients are listed separately, declaring both the percentage of active ingredient used and what effect it has.
