College Bound Riders vie for Scholarships and More at Invitational Horse Show

Press Release

The College Bound Invitational Horse Show in Newberry Florida is a semi-annual event that was created to help students vie for slots on college riding teams and scholarships. The Invitational, which follows IHSA and USAE competition rules, includes over fences and flat equitation classes with an individual test and a horsemanship question. The Invitational is open to middle and high school students, as well as recent graduates who have not yet chosen a college.

In addition to the traditional judges, coaches from colleges with riding programs are on hand to watch the riders go. Students and parents are also allowed to question the group of coaches about their college riding programs and collect printed materials about each school.

An optional preparation camp is also held prior to the event, where students participate in two intensive riding lessons per day and attend informational seminars on marketing themselves to colleges and applying for scholarships. The camp is followed by the Invitational competition.

The next College Bound Invitational will be held July 23-25, 2004. The Pre-Invitational Prep Camp is July 19-23, 2004. The winter show is scheduled for December 17-19, 2004.
