Olympic Coverage of Equestrian Sport at NBCOlympics.com

Equestrian Press Release

NBCOlympics.com announces their coverage of Olympic equestrian sport at http://www.nbcolympics.com/equestrian. NBC’s online coverage includes news, athlete biographies, television listing schedules, information on medals for the various countries competing in the Olympics, videos, an Olympic store, and much more.

Debbie McDonald, the United States’ Dressage superstar, was featured on the main page of the Equestrian section. McDonald has already been named to the U.S. dressage team’s short list and bypassed the 2004 U.S. Olympic Dressage Team Trials, which began this past weekend in San Juan Capistrano, CA. NBCOlympics.com offers a video of McDonald talking about her special bond with her mare, Brentina.

McDonald and eventing rider Robert Costello, who represented the United States at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, took time out of their schedules to go to New York to promote equestrian sports.

Other features include “What to Watch in Athens,” “Pessoa’s Toughest Hurdle,” “Flying Horses?,” “O’Connor Triumps,” “High-‘Kaliber’ Kappler,” and “Eventing: Modified, But Still Demanding.”

In the section called “Inside the Sport,” those new to equestrian sports can find more on the basics, equipment, what it takes to qualify, history, medalists, horses, a glossary, and information about the venue.

Stay tuned to the Results & Schedules link as the Equestrian Olympic Games begin on August 15 and run through August 27. The site will remain online through the beginning of September.
