More than $500,000 in Prize Money at the Colorado Horse Park Summer Circuit
Horse Press Release
Parker, CO — Riders from around the United States and Mexico will converge on the Colorado Horse Park in July for four weeks of hunter/jumper shows. They will join local athletes as they vie for more than $500,000 in prize money. Among the numerous hunter, jumper and equitation divisions are three grand prix, a $25,000 working hunter classic, and four MASCUP Derbies.
The highlight of the events is the AGA $60,000 Grand Prix of Denver presented by Dillards and Ariat held on July 24. Defending champion Renee Lenkart returns this year to attempt to retain her title. Renee’s husband is also a defending champion. Scott Lenkart won the High Prairie Grand Prix last year and will attempt to defend his title on July 10. Both Lenkarts will also contest the $40,000 AGA Rocky Mountain Grand Prix on July 17.
A $100,000 bonus is offered to the horse and rider combination to win all three grand prix. Although no one has so far succeeded in claiming the bonus, a couple of riders have come really close. Will this be the year?
Spectators are welcomed at each grand prix. Tickets are just $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The events begin at 5:00 p.m. on July 10 and 17 with opening ceremonies beginning at 4:00 p.m. on July 24. Tickets are available to all three events by calling 303-841-5550 or at the gate. VIP tickets on July 24, which include hospitality and preferred seating, are $65. Parking is free. Snacks, dinner and equestrian-themed shopping are available on the grounds.
