Clothes Horse Carson Kressley Gets Unbridled on Capital Region TV Series

Press Release

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Carson Kressley is as savvy in the saddle as he is in the fitting rooms of Manhattan’s trendiest clothing stores. UNBRIDLED’s Susan Kayne spoke one-on-one with the wardrobe wizard and equine expert at the International Horse Show, July 3, in Syracuse, NY, where he was competing.

UNBRIDLED, America’s favorite equine lifestyle series, will feature Kressley on its first episode this season on CBS affiliate WRGB-TV 6, Saturday, July 17, from 6:30 to 7 a.m., and again on Sunday, July 18, 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Kressley is the central figure of Bravo’s wildly hilarious, hit reality series, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, in which five men known as the “Fab Five” remold an unsuspecting, under-groomed heterosexual male, teaching him fashion sense, sophistication and romance. Kressley is best known and loved for his witty one-liners and unique sense of style.

Born in 1969, the makeover master was raised around horses and fondly recalls his favorite childhood pet Sparky, a dapple-grey Shetland pony. At the age of 16, he was already an accomplished rider and competing at the highest level. He has been a competitive rider since and was once a member of the World Cup Equestrian Team. When he is not taping his popular makeover show, he visits his horses competing in the summers and riding the trails of his family’s Pennsylvania farm in the winter.

Kressley speaks to Kayne about his childhood and encourages kids to go to the barns to learn all that they can about horses. He shares with viewers his passion for competitive riding and tells them that despite his busy schedule, they can expect to see much more of him in the show ring. He is featured with his horse, “George,” which he likens to George Clooney, “tall, dark and handsome.”

Kressley just finished filming “The Perfect Man” with Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear. The film is due out in theaters Valentine’s Day 2005.

In addition to Kressley, the episode will feature world renowned Thoroughbred Trainer Patrick Biancone with his current prize pupil LION HEART, and the champion horse’s own personal stylist -- that is, in the footwear department -- Thoro’Bred, maker of the “world’s finest” racing plates, which designed and fit him with special shoes for his second place finish in the 2004 Kentucky Derby.

UNBRIDLED is produced and distributed by rockin’horse productions, the production unit of SUSAN KAYNE OMNIMEDIA, LLC, in Albany, NY. In its first season, UNBRIDLED won the 2003 Broadcast Media Excellence Award from the US Equestrian Federation, an organization of more than 85,000 members from the equine industry. The show was lauded for its unique approach to covering equine sports, packaging them in a fun, embraceable style and offering personal, in-depth interviews with the nation’s leading trainers, owners and jockeys. The show debuted last year during the Saratoga racing season on WRGB-TV 6 and was picked up by Horse-TV following the national recognition.

UNBRIDLED host and creator Susan Kayne was born in Brunswick, NY, and is a lifelong equestrian. She has earned numerous local and national championships. She has worked in the barns of some of the nation’s leading thoroughbred trainers, including those of Todd Pletcher and Bill Mott during last year’s Saratoga racing season.
