Campbell Wins 2004 Wild Horsefeathers/USEF Green Pony Hunter Championship

Kaitlin Campbell, 12, of Doylestown, PA, rode Karen Lutz and Stratford Stables’ Absolut Snap to win the 2004 Wild Horsefeathers / USEF Green Pony Hunter Championship held August 4. The championship was held as part of the USEF Pony Finals being held August 4-7 at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA. As champion, Campbell walked away with the Brownland Farm Perpetual Trophy, a Triple Crown Custom cooler, a ten-inch Revere bowl keeper trophy and a Pessoa saddle. Campbell, reserve champion in the 2003 Green Pony Hunter Championship, is trained by Patty Miller.
Exhibitors went head-to-head in competition in an over fences class, a model class and an under saddle class, competing against riders from across the nation to vie for top honors. Competitors qualified to compete in this event by winning a Champion or Reserve Champion at an “A” or “AA” rated United States Equestrian Federation competition between December 1, 2003, and July 1, 2004.

Samantha Schaefer, 11, from Westminster, MD, rode William Sullivan’s pony, Skippin’ School, to take the Reserve Champion spot.
The judges for the Green Hunter Ponies were, Kim Dorfman of Aiken, SC, Joseph Darby of Southern Pines, NC, and Scott Fitton of Ithaca, NY.
The USEF Pony Finals runs through Friday and will include the Pony Medal, Small, Medium and Large Pony classes as well as the Team and Individual Jumper Championships.
