For everyone whose planning to make their way to San Francisco for this year's USEA Convention, which runs December 2-5, the cut-off date for reduced registration rates is November 15. The registration form can be found in the brochure sent to all members last month, on the Convention page on the USEA website, or call the office (703) 779-0440 ext. 3014 or 3003 and we'll be happy to fax you one.
Also, for those of you who cannot attend the Annual Meeting, Saturday afternoon at the Convention immediately following the Awards Luncheon, please make sure to fill out the proxy that was sent recently by mail. The proxy allows you to vote for or against the election of governors, as proposed by the USEA Nominating Committee, or to give your vote to a USEA member in good standing who will be at the Annual Meeting to vote for you. This is an opportunity for you to make your voice heard in the governance of the association, so we hope you'll take a minute to complete the proxy and send it in. Proxies must be postmarked by November 19 in order for them to be counted.
If you can make it San Francisco and the Annual Meeting, make sure to stick around Saturday afternoon after the administrative work is done for a "Look Back to Athens." After a gorgeous, multi-media display of photos capturing the Olympic experience, our bronze medal winning team and their coach, Captain Mark Phillips, Team Vet, Dr. Brendan Furlong, and Chef d' Mission, Jim Wolf, will take the stage to talk about the triumphs, trials, and tribulations of their dramatic trip to Greece.
If you don't have various committee meeting responsibilities on Thursday, December 2, you should consider taking the Area VI California Wine Tour, scheduled from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Enjoy incredible wines while experiencing the northern California landscape-gorgeous views, rolling hillsides, and awesome vistas. The cost is $60 and seats are limited. To make reservations, or for questions and a lunch menu, contact Candace at (707) 578-8160 or email Candace724@aol.com. Leave your name, contact information, and number of people for the tour.
For those of you looking to improve your dressage performance, don't miss "The View from C" on Sunday, December 5, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m., for your chance to find out what the dressage judge is thinking as they watch your performance in the ring, from your first to your final salute. Two of the U.S.'s top international eventing judges, Marilyn Payne and Brian Ross will be on hand to virtually critique videotaped rides from each level. Listen to their commentary to find out where you can earn some extra points in your next test.
