Purchase: I paid $805.99 for this at State Line Tack. SLT is my favorite tack shop, I have never been disappointed. Now that they are in some of the PetSmart stores it's more convenient if I do need to return or exchange an item.

Likes: Comfort! I cannot afford to buy a $2000 saddle and this definitely makes me feel like I did. Another woman that I ride with recommended this saddle and I was glad that she did. I used to ride in an old Crosby which was nice, but it was old and worn. I shopped around for a used saddle in the beginning but realized that I can get a new one for a good price instead. This saddle has a balanced seat, it's soft and the knee rolls and padded flaps make it that much more when jumping.

Dislikes: None really... I have only had it for about 2 weeks now and it is still breaking in. My instructor has advised me to strip all of that waxy stuff off with some saddle soap. Once I do that, it's Lexol, Lexol, Lexol. She told me that this will make it even more comfortable.

Quality: I know that an $800 saddle is an $800 saddle - it's no Crosby, but it's definitely made well, and will last me a long time. It truely feels like a saddle twice the price. The woman who recommended this saddle to begin with has had hers for about 5 years now and not a single complaint. The leather is a good quality, Argentina I think, but still good.

Summary: I would recommend this saddle to anyone. Especially if you are like me, on a bit of a budget owning a horse to begin with. I was tired to always buying used tack and now I didn't have to. Even for a young rider maybe just starting out and looking for a first saddle, this is it. You cannot go wrong with the Collegiate. They also make a model with the easy change gullet systems for a bit higher price, great for a rider with several horses with different bodies. I just didn't need that.
