Category: English Bridles

Purchase: Bought from Jeffers Vet/Equine 3 years ago for $35 (no reins, headstall only). I wanted a synthetic bridle for endurance that wasn't as heavy and expensive as the typical endurance bridles that have several layers of biothane and heavy brass hardware. For the cost, I was willing to try one to see how well they hold up under demanding use and severe conditions.

Likes: This headstall is GREAT! It has held up remarkably well, no stitching has come out, and the bridle still looks good after 100s of miles and several years of continual use. This bridle has worked well in that it is also very lightweight--much more so than the typical "endurance" biothane bridles! I really think this is much better for my horse. It has also been easy to keep clean, and it's very easy to work with when wet or when it's cold outside. It's more similar to the "beta" type of biothane--so it's more flexible. This beats leather, which swells when wet and is difficult to use in wet or very cold conditions. The bridle hasn't rubbed anywhere or caused loss of hair or soreness, even on very long rides.

Dislikes: I hate the "wintec" plastic piece that is located on the edge of the headstall. It's ugly, plastic, cheap-looking, and the silver-tone has faded. If they want it obvious that it's a wintec brand, PLEASE find another way. I look like a Wintec billboard, and since the plastic looks pretty bad now, it looks like a sub-standard advertisement that doesn't match the quality of the bridle.

Quality: Construction is very good, and I've had no issues with it coming apart/loose stitching over several years of tough use.

Summary: Bottom line is that this is a GREAT bridle for endurance, trail, or general riding. A GREAT buy if you want a bridle for such uses, want something that's easy to care for, and that can hold up under tough conditions.
