Purchase: I bought this saddle for about $2300 at a nearby tack store. I really needed a new saddle for my horse, and I had my eye on a Tad or Antares, because I had used someone's Tad for a year (and loved it) and an Antares for a year (and loved it).

Likes: I really like the feeling of security it gives me over bigger fences. Also, the flatter seat doesn't leave me feeling like I'm swimming in my saddle, or being pushed back in the air, which happens with a LOT of other, cheaper saddles. I also love the buttery smooth leather and extra-long billets for horses that bloat. This saddle also complements you and your horse nicely, it doesn't attract a lot of attention, therefore putting the focus on you and your horse!

Dislikes: I think the seat is a little bit hard for my taste, but when you do hunters or jumpers like I do, you're not in the tack enough for it to really hurt. Plus, I think the A52 has a soft seat so it is really comfortable. With an older Tad, I wouldn't recommend it to someone that trail rides a lot. Although you do get used to the seat in a couple weeks. Also, the price! It's a serious investment, but it's worth it!

Quality: This saddle is BEAUTIFULLY constructed. Mine's about eight years old and it has no loose stitching or anything! The leather seems to get shinier and turn yellow-gold after it gets older, but it looks really nice. Again, I don't think the new Tad Coffins do this.

Summary: The Tad is also completely designed around being great for your horse's back. Me and my horse's chiropractor have really noticed a positive change in her back since I've gotten this saddle. It tends to move with the back better, so it really is the best saddle on the market for your horse. Also, I love the leather Tad-Pads. If the saddle on its own is to wide and sits too low, you can put a Tad Pad under it (There are tons of different thicknesses) and it will customize it to your horse. My thoroughbred uses a thick Tad-Pad and it works great. But, then I can throw it over a super-chunky Warmblood and change pads and it will still fit! Overall, great saddle.
