Purchase: Purchased at Chick's Saddlery, online, $299.00. Most other places list it for $400+. I bought this saddle because I was looking for an everyday riding saddle that I could use on my gaited horses as I wanted to save my Whitman and Tarpin Hill saddles for show as those companies are now out of business, and as far as cut back saddles go, there are no good ones on the market today.
Likes: Since I ride gaited horses, posting is not an issue, and this western saddle allows me to sit a similar position as the other saddles I ride. I wanted something rugged and comfy for me and my horses, plus, cost was a great consideration. This saddle is made in America by Americans with American made parts. When I received it, I was pleasantly surprised to feel how light the saddle is. The saddle is gorgeous. Yes, I said gorgeous. It has a quality look to it. No, it's not a $3,500 show saddle, but it is very attractive. Also, when compared to other synthetics, the seat is much more comfy, you don't have to worry about scratches, it's lighter weight than most others, and it's MADE IN AMERICA! My gaited horses are very comfy in it. I will buy another one or two, maybe three???
Dislikes: The off billet is a lot longer than necessary, at least for my horses. I suspect that stock-type horses may need more billet than my gaited horses. However, it's not that big of a deal. But if there was one even slightly negative, this is it. But, to me it's not really a bad thing.
Quality: This saddle is made with Cordura nylon, and parts made in America. It is more attractive and comfortable than other synthetic saddles. It rides wonderfully! You don't have to worry about scratching it. You get great contact with this saddle.
Summary: If you are considering a synthetic saddle, this is the one to buy.
