Purchase: I bought these clippers on sale at jeffers.com for $109. It was cheaper than paying someone to body clip my horse, so I decided to give it a try, since they were on sale and everything.
Likes: These are a great set of mid-range clippers. I have never body clipped a horse before, so I can't compare them to other clippers, but I was pleasantly surprised by the performance. They never got hot in my hand, although the blade head did heat up. They cut through clean hair very well, less smooth through wet hair. I got about 20-25 minutes of clipping done before I had to shut them off and let them cool. The cord is nice and long (16') and they are lightweight and pretty small. It was easy to get under my horse and get every little spot with these clippers. They are also very quiet! They make barely any more noise than my WAHL Pro Series Cordless trimmer. They did not leave lines in my horse's coat. My horse is a 3 year old STB and he has never been clipped before, these were quiet and gentle enough that he didn't even care! These were quiet and gentle enough to do parts of his face. Small areas like ears and under the fetlocks I got with my Pro Series.
Dislikes: With these clippers, I got my horse mostly clipped (except for his legs) in about 3 hours. I think this is because I have never body clipped before, not because the clippers are bad. In a few spots, I had to make multiple passes to get all the hair even, but again this might be my inexperience with body clipping. Overall I don't have anything bad to say!
Quality: Constructed well, smooth, light weight and easy to hold. The blades snap on and off so it is very easy to clean the hair out and change blades. The cord is 16', which I found sufficient. I did use an extension cord. They seem very quiet and cool running to me.
Summary: I think these are a great, affordable pair of body clippers for someone who only has a couple horses to do once or twice a season. For heavy duty clipping of an entire barn of horses, you'll probably want to pay the extra money for heavy duty body clippers. These are also gentle enough for face clipping, bridle path and fetlocks. I was very surprised at the performance for the price! I would recommend these clippers, and any other product from WAHL. They have never let me down.
