Purchase: I ordered this helmet from Valley Vet online because they had the best price ($60) plus free shipping. It was also available through Dover Saddlery and several other online retailers. I wanted a lightweight, inexpensive, safe, helmet for schooling and this one is perfect.
Likes: I always rode in my good Charles Owen Hampton, but in the hot, dusty summer weather I decided to look for something that would be cooler and allocated for schooling so I didn't have to worry about keeping it show-ready. This helmet is very comfortable, cool, and easy to adjust. The outer material is easy to brush off since it is not velvet so it doesn't really look dirty. I wear a 7 1/8 in the Charles Owen line, and according to the IRH size chart for the Equi-vent, I was right in between a medium and large. I ordered the medium and it fits perfectly. Overall I am happy with this helmet.
Dislikes: The inner blue liner seems to be made of a fairly cheap material as it is already starting to wear a little thin in some stressed areas. The inner material that rests on my forehead is a little bit itchy on hot days. I have to make sure to push my hairnet up higher or it really irritates my skin. Other than that, it's great!
Quality: For the price, I think it is a well-constructed helmet and the quality is what I would expect for the cost. It is not a helmet I would show in, so it fits the bill for schooling.
Summary: Great schooling helmet at a great price! I'm glad I bought it.
