Purchase: I paid $90 (MSRP is $190) from online retailer Classic Saddlery. They always have great discounts and this seemed to be no different. I had been looking for a jumper bridle for my mare who is a little hard to fit (needs a large browband but a smaller noseband) and the measurements, as well as the price, looked right. The two reviews on M Toulouse bridles on this site seemed more than satisfactory as well.

Likes: The color is nice, a good-looking deep red chestnut. Straight "out of the box" the lighter tan padding on the browband and part of the caveson is very flattering as well. The top part of the figure 8 is raised as well. The browband is a generous fit (roughly over 16") which was a major factor in purchasing the bridle. All in all it is attractive on a horse.

Dislikes: After less than a week's worth of gentle use, the stitching on the center on the figure 8 (that covers the crossing leather pieces) is coming out-- one of the four corners is nearly completely detached. The buckle locations are also completely bewildering! The flash buckle ends up on the right side of the horse's face between their chin and mouth, as opposed to the top left side of the nose like a normal bridle. The top buckle of the figure 8 that goes under the jowl ends up buckling on the very edge of the right jawbone. We tried this on four different horses, and it does not buckle like a normal figure 8 on any of them. In addition, the reins are rubber covered rather than regular rubber, and I don't like them at all. The rubber is already starting to separate.

Quality: Overall quality? Pretty bad. I'd expect even a junk $20 bridle from India to hold up to a week's worth of use, let alone a bridle that is supposed to retail for $190. The leather is pretty cardboardy too, but perhaps it would break in nicely if it would have held up to more use!

Summary: Not worth $90 let alone $190, unless the bridle I purchased was defective!
