Purchase: I purchased this bridle online at a clearance sale - was marked down from $149 to $99. I bought mine in o/s, in cognac colour with tan padding. It came with matching flat laced reins.
Likes: The bridle is well made and very attractive. It is a classic style that is always 'in' in the show ring. The generous padding and attention to detail around the buckles make it seem like it would be most comfortable for the horse as well.
Dislikes: The leather changed colour immediately when cleaned with saddle soap and a light use of oil. It turned it from the beautiful cognac colour I ordered to dark dark brown, almost black. After the first application of oil (and no, I did not over-oil it I just lightly applied a small amount) the bridle no longer matches the saddle I bought it for. The padding also turned colour and is now the same colour as the rest of the bridle so it is no longer two-toned cognac and tan, just solid dark brown.
Quality: I love the soft suppleness of the leather. The bit ends on the reins and cheek pieces have the extra slip of leather inside so the fit wont warp over time. The noseband is doubled and stitched all the way around so it also wont warp or stretch, and it has a protective leather tab under the noseband's roller buckle to avoid pinching your horse. The holes throughout the bridle are all evenly spaced and properly punched. The bridle is very well made, and the stitching is tight and perfectly even.
Summary: All in all, it looks and feels like a bridle worth twice as much as the MSRP. My only suggestion would be to either not oil it at all, or buy a lighter colour then you need and oil it down. Gorgeous bridle but its sad when you buy new tack and after the first oiling it no longer matches. It isn't the right colour to be my show bridle but it is a very fancy schooling bridle now and is holding up very well to daily use (after just over a year).
