Purchase: I have purchased this product online to be used for my newborn foal starting November. The blanket cost $40, which I considered was not a bad price for an expandable blanket that should be good for a while.
Likes: I liked the waterproof material of this blanket, the sturdy construction and the wide belly strap. The front is also adjustable to fit a growing foal.
Dislikes: It is not a foal-safe item. As soon as I started using the blanket I realized that it would shift to the side a lot. This is because the belly strap closes only on one side and it bunches up a lot of the blanket pushing it to the other side. The front of the blanket is also rather thick with two layers of wide velcro - when the foal was reaching down the blanket ran up and over her head. The tail loop is supposed to keep the blanket in place but it does not. If you make it too tight, it will bother the foal because it is pulling on the tail to one side.
Quality: As mentioned above the construction is faulty. It is not made for a moving foal.
Some D rings for leg straps might help a little but they are not available on this model.
Summary: I would have this product pulled back from the market if the design can not be fixed.
Just because I already own it I might try to have it adjusted and repaired, adding some velcro to the belly strap and some D rings.
In either case I need to get another blanket.
