Purchase: I bought this saddle because my current saddle did not fit my new wide-backed pony who is picky about her saddle fit. I purchased this saddle from ebay (it had only been used a few times; not even broken in yet). It has a 34cm tree and a 16.5'' seat. I won the bid for approximately $330.00, although these retail new for around $900.
Likes: I LOVE it to death!! Comfortable for my mare, good quality leather (always important!), and comfortable for me as well! I also love that the saddle has a nice, wide gullet that frees the spine to move more naturally. The billets are still holding up nicely and the stitching hasn't come undone. If anything, the saddle improved my position too. The color is a very rich and unique brown. I get compliments on my saddle all the time.
Dislikes: Okay, if I have to...
I feel that the panels are not stuffed as evenly as they could be. I bought a correction half pad for it just to help a little (a horse chiropractor isn't cheap, I know.). I didn't need a crazy expensive half pad for it, just something to even out the panels a bit for my mare's sensitive back. That was the ONLY thing I found that I do not love, and it was very fixable.
Quality: Over all, this saddle is very well constructed. Rich, supple leather that breaks in nicely, a show-ready look, a good quality tree, and comfortable for both human and horse!
Summary: I have recommended this saddle to a friend, and will continue to recommend this saddle to all riders with wide horses! A great saddle for any rider wanting to compete in jumpers and eventing, or do fox hunts and hunter paces.
