Model: Just-be-natural barrel saddle (View all Just B Natural Barrel Saddle reviews)

Category: Barrel Saddles

Purchase: I purchased this saddle new from my local tack shop. My horse has a hard back to fit. After bulking up from work she could no longer fit her Martha Josey. I never wanted a treeless because I thought they looked weird. Then I saw the JBN's more traditional look and gave it a try, hoping a treeless would fit her better

Likes: I really love this saddle. The seat is deep enough for hard barrel turns without the crazy high back of a Martha Josey. The stirrups aren't going to help you in the EQ ring but they will help you brace. The horn is at a great angle. At least in my opinion. It isn't so big to break shirt buttons. All the bling and tooling is what you would expect from Circle Y. I love the traditional look that most treeless lack. And best of all my high withered broad horse is comfortable it in. I've read many reviews for this saddle. Most are bad. But I think Circle Y fixed many of the problems since they came out. The rigging doesn't pinch. The leather is great. Seems like a good saddle.

Dislikes: Just one thing: I don't know the correct term for this, but the adjustable part of the stirrup leather, under the fender, isn't leather. I think it is tightly woven nylon coated in black stuff that makes it look leathery. I wouldn't have a problem with it but my one side has frayed some. Its seems to have stopped after going maybe half an inch. I don't worry about it breaking. I just keep on eye on it.

Quality: Aside from the issue above I would say it is a well made saddle. Just like any other Circle Y is putting out. Maybe not martin quality, but also didn't have that price tag. I expect to use the saddle for years and years. I've owned it for two years. Ridden in countless races. Not cleaned it enough. I still don't see any break down, stitching issues or cracked leather or rawhide.

Summary: If you are looking for a well made barrel saddle that won't trap you down and has a traditional look for a treeless saddle, this is the saddle for you.
