Purchase: I was looking for a cheap but reliable saddle and order this one from State Line Tack for $300 along with the matching girth, leathers, and bridle which came to about $400.
Likes: I liked the price and the fact that it was lightweight......that's about it.
Dislikes: Well, I had originally ordered a regular tree and I tried it on my horse and it seemed a little tight in the shoulder so I exchange it for a wide tree. It looked like it fit ok. But soon my horse started to become somebody she wasn't and wouldn't listen to my cues and always had her ears pinned while being ridden so I looked to my tack. I borrowed a friends Circuit Elite for a few weeks and she changed into a different horse! Another thing I didn't like was the fact that I only had this saddle for 4 or 5 months and already I saw much of the stitches coming loose and the color fading everywhere, and I'm also not a big fan of the burgundy coloring. And it definitely did not help my position on the flat or over fences. It was very constricting and uncomfortable.
Quality: I was definitely not a fan of the construction of this saddle. They are made in Argentina instead of in England where all of the good quality saddles come from. The leather was definitely not good quality. It smelled like fish when I first took it out of the box which was my first clue. Out of the months that I had it I cleaned and oiled it once a week and rode in it constantly and it never seemed to break in and get comfortable. There trees also run small. But I guess you get what you pay for!!
Summary: I would definitely not recommend this saddle to anyone. Bad construction, bad color, bad leather, and a bad fit. It just did not impress me at all. For anyone looking for a cheap saddle just go the extra few hundred dollars and get something that will fit you and your horse and last a lifetime. I sold this saddle for a small $200 just to get it out of my sight. I then bought a Circuit Elite which I am completely in love with!
