Purchase: I bought this saddle through the Dover catalog for about $800. I acquired it specifically for dressage competition and training for my 16h paint horse.
Likes: I thought the the saddle was of an exceptional quality considering the price. The leather has been easy to break in especially with a little extra oiling and conditioning. The saddle is a medium tree and it fits my horse perfectly (he is an average quarter horse size back). It is very comfortable to ride in and I can keep a nice, balanced, and stable seat even at the sitting trot. The knee rolls are comfortable and soft and the seat is deep and comfortable enough for long training sessions and trail rides.
Dislikes: The only 2 things I do not like about the saddle is I feel the underside padding is insufficient for maximum horse comfort and I would like the knee rolls to be removable or adjustable.
Quality: Excellent, quality construction that I'm sure will last many good years. The leather is of a good quality and is soft and supple. The billets and other construction is bomber.
Summary: I believe that this is a great saddle for the price. I don't feel the need to buy a more expensive, fancier saddle when I have this one. It is suitable for training and for show.
