Purchase: I bought this saddle off Ebay and got a really good deal on it. I had been riding in my instructor's saddle which was way too small, she is 5'3" I am 5'10". I paid around $250 for it. When buying off Ebay make sure you ask questions and request pictures of BOTH sides of the saddle, the billets, how they measured it, and about any scratches. Some sellers will purposely be vague but most will answer you questions if you ask. Avoid those that don't!

Likes: The flaps are nice and forward, GREAT for us long-legged people. I like flat seat of the saddle but I tend to avoid deep seats. The leather is great quality too!! I find the saddle to be well balanced and super close contact. The saddle does not have knee rolls, which is hard to find these days! The saddle also seems to fit whatever I put it on. fat ponies to the typical TB!

Dislikes: The seat leather is not as nice as the other leather on it, but I cannot judge because I do not know how it was taken care of by its previous owners. The one flap that is worn thin over the stirrup is annoying to look at but when riding it isn't a problem. My friend disliked the seat of the saddle, saying it was harder than a rock! I have never liked cushy seats, though. Just be warned that the PDS is no butet or cushy deep-seated stubben!! And it shouldn't be for the price.

Quality: The saddle is quite old, I am guessing mid to late 80's but it has held up very well. The leather is still soft and takes oil very well. The seat has some tiny surface cracks. The flap over the stirrup bar is worn thin on one side from lots of use. The stitching is worn away in some areas of constant leg contact. However, the saddle IS about 20 years old though and the quality is obvious! I don't think saddles are made this tough anymore!

Summary: I would recommend this saddle or the newer Crosby Prix de Nations version without a doubt, especially if you like a flat seat and no knee rolls. I do not recommend it as a trail saddle because of the lack of padding in the seat. This is a great saddle for a beginner rider or someone who wants a good used saddle for a deal.
