Purchase: I have three of these bridles. One I got on sale for $130, the other was $175. I got them at the same time (Spring 2006) at Cheshire Horse in Keene, NH - one is a cob with flash, the other horse. The last is over six years old, purchased from the same place for roughly $225.

Likes: Beautiful leather, fittings. Great fit for a normal horse. I always had problems with the nosebands being unproportionately large. The older one had a huge noseband for a horse-sized bridle. The older bridle is still stunning, show-quality.

Dislikes: I wasn't impressed with how the leather broke in. The color turned funky - sort of unnatural burgundy. I've never had problems breaking in tack before, but this just didn't fit my system. Besides the color, some if it rippled a bit, and is still stiff. I will admit that the color has improved with more age, but the first few months were scary.

Quality: I can't see this bridle breaking in the near future. I was not happy with the rippling. The old bridle has no rippling, but the stitching broke at one point on the cheek piece. I had it fixed, which was well worth the cost. The reins on the old bridle were braided too tight, causing a wave in the reins.

Summary: The old bridle I am definitely happy with - it was well worth the cost, and will be a reliable piece of tack for a long time to come. The new ones I am still debating. Thus far, I do not think they are worth the price. They did not make great show bridles due to how quickly they turned funky colors, and how slowly they are breaking in. One of the two I am using for a school bridle on a daily basis, and has just begun to look acceptable. Its more appropriate to rate them separately, even though they are the same model. 6 Years: 4 (both at time of purchase and presently) New: 3
