Purchase: I bought these bell boots at State Line Tack in PetsMart in March 2007. I think they were $6 on clearance. I loved the different colours and the smooth finish, and the velcro looked sturdy.
Likes: Great colour lasts, and the velcro is very secure. No problems with the construction so far. The boot also covers the entire hoof, which adds to security and protection. Easy to keep clean!
Dislikes: Although they fit my horse very well, they RUB very badly! The bulbs of the heels are really shiny and look almost bruised where the boot sits on them. The boot isn't tight at all, but does seem to move around as well as rest on the bulb and rub it. Will try lining it with a piece of sheepskin, see if that helps. Also, footing material gets into the velcro and gets caught up in it. Maybe this is normal, but it doesn't happen to the cheap-o white ribbed velcro bells I have.
Quality: Well-attached velcro, no problems so far. Good, sturdy rubbery plastic is not stiff but nice and flexible. Great construction!
Summary: Can't figure out why these boots rub. Otherwise, nice boots, especially for the price. Would give them a 4 out of 5, but the rubbing drops it to a 3.
