Purchase: I purchased this saddle at an online tack store new, regular retail price. I bought it because the price was reasonable, the equisuede is easy care, and the gullet is adjustable.
Likes: My horse seems more comfortable in saddle than others I've tried, despite the fact that it does not fit him. I like the synthetic equisuede as it takes no care and is very grippy. The seat is soft and comfortable. Probably if the saddle's XW gullet truly made the saddle wide and it fit my horse, the saddle would place me in a good position. For more normal backed horses this would be a good purchase, especially for use on multiple horses.
Dislikes: There is absolutely no way that the saddle with the extra wide gullet installed is extra wide. Its still a regular tree, only the front of the saddle is a little wider. I thought that since it was adjustable that XW would fit an XW horse. This saddle is for horses with a regular back but wide at the front area only. Even the narrower horses at my farm that ride in a Wintec adjustable, need the XW gullet for comfort! I've not seen even a moderately wide horse fit this saddle properly.
Quality: I've had the saddle for 3 years now and I'm impressed by its durability. It has marks where the stirrup leathers are, but so do all saddles, leather or synthetic. The stirrup leather area of the flap is nowhere near being worn through. The rest of the saddle including billets is in excellent condition after 3 years of heavy use.
Summary: Durable, well priced saddle, comfortable for the rider, but ONLY for a fairly regular backed horse. A wider gullet does NOT mean a wider tree. If I had a narrower horse, I'd consider this a great buy, otherwise, look elsewhere. I'd rank this saddle a 5, except I felt that the claim that the saddle adjusts to different types of horses was decieving and untrue.
