Manufacturer: Jaguar (View all products by Harry Dabbs / Jaguar Saddles)

Model: Plain Raised, Cob (View all Plain Raised, Cob reviews)

Category: English Bridles

Purchase: I won this bridle with reins on e-bay from Horseloverz for $162.00, thought I won the lottery I was so excited to win such an elite bridle.

Likes: I'd researched Jaguar (tack), on their website, and assumed it was quality all the way, like their cars. Turns out that's all it is - just a fancy brand name stamped on thoughtlessly designed tack. Loved the auburn color, the "Jaguar" stamped on crown (upside down ...), and the "Harry Dobbs" stamped on all the stainless steel hardware buckles. Lovely stitching, the color held well -it's painted on, not dyed.

Dislikes: Stiff leather. Even after carefully oiling it lovingly, using it gently a few times, it remains hard and unyielding. But my biggest complaint is the buckles and keepers!!!!! You need to exert super strength just to get the cheek and throat latch straps into them, and just try to pull them back out to clean it!!!!!!!!!!! The buckles are too narrow; it abraids the leather pushing up to change sizes. Now the bridle leather, where it should be smooth, is all bumpy and cheap looking from where I pushed the catches up. Don't even try to set it up neatly in keepers/buckles after cleaning - you need all your strength to pull them back out to put on the horse. I've been in this business all my life, have many brand bridles and tack, and this is the first time I've ever had buckles and keepers too small for the unit.

Quality: Very pretty sitting on my tack room wall. What a waste - it's so user unfriendly - even the throat latch buckle, I don't use it at all. I have no idea if it is good for the long haul, got tired of fighting the sizing placement after a few rides. For sale, cheap. Anyone?

Summary: Don't bother buying even if at give away price. It's just too hard to use. Good tack should melt onto the horse effortlessly.
