Purchase: I bought these bell boots at State Line tack for $17 on sale, because my old bell boots were starting to come apart. They were a Medium size.
Likes: I originally liked the double velcro closure and the smooth PVC. I thought it would be slide easier around the horse's pastern and stay on more securely. The velcro was really very, very secure, and the PVC was easily washable. The bright blue colour was nice, too. I know several people who use them and really like them.
Dislikes: No matter how loosely I fastened the velcro, the edge of the boot would chafe my horses' pastern until it was raw. Although the velcro was very secure, it would also capture a lot of fine sand grains, and was difficult to clean of this. I ended up selling these boots.
Quality: Excellent construction, well-made, no loose threads on the velcro tabs. These boots should last a long, long time.
Summary: Although my horse is pretty fine-boned, these boots rubbed his pasterns raw. It may be just the way they fit him, but they did not work for him at all. Check the fit very carefully, and inspect the horse's pastern after the first few rides, and be prepared to return the boots if there is any sign of rubbing.
