Purchase: Bought from Country Supply for $50.00 to protect my black horse from sun and bugs
Likes: The design is very good, The top portion is a solid but light weight cottony fabric, and the sides are soft mesh. The neck coverage is very good and the straps and buckles are fairly sturdy. It fits true to size and stays put. I have been using it for about a month now and it's working well. We don't have many bugs but the sun is extreme here at 7000'; my filly was spending half her day with both front feet in the water trough trying to stay cool, now she is much better even though the temperature has climbed, and her coat is nice and dark. The sheet has nylon lining to help avoid rubs at stress points.
Dislikes: The materials won't stand up to much horseplay. The mesh tears easily, although it seems to have a ripstop property. Probably not good for horses turned out together. It should be easy to repair due to the light weight.
Quality: Pretty light duty, but the price is reasonable. The nature of it's job means it should not be made of heavy materials. So far all straps and buckles have stayed intact through enthusiastic bucking and playing.
Summary: I would buy this again even if it doesn't wear well because it does exactly what I bought it for: it keeps my horse much cooler in the hot sun than if she wore nothing at all. She can enjoy being out in the daytime without getting sunburned.
