Purchase: I had purchased a Stubben Roxane all purpose saddle about 2 years ago and just couldn't get "comfy" in it. After some research and working with a very helpful local tack shop, we decided it just didn't fit me as well as it could and started looking at other saddles. I ended up trying and LOVING the Stubben Genesis. The price was right around $2300.
Likes: Everything!!! The half-deep seat is comfortable for jumping (up to about 3'), trail riding, and flat work. I am a 5'8" rider and did not need to order the longer flap-the regular one accommodated my long leg perfect and put me in the correct position for equitation and jumping. The leather is soft and comfortable right from the start and the ebony color is very rich. And, best of all, my horse loves it!!! He is a rather spicy Anglo-Arab and had always been easy to fit into a saddle, but after 10 years of owning him he has never felt as relaxed and easy to collect as he is with this saddle.
Dislikes: The only thing that I could see for an improvement would be more variety in flap styles. This particular saddle did fit me, but if I had wanted a longer flap I would have also had to go more forward and since I don't do a lot of jumping over 36", I felt like I didn't need a more forward saddle.
Quality: This saddle was built with the highest Stubben standards - it features the new NT spring tree, doubled leather, 100% wool flocking, and a wider seat for comfort and a better close-contact feel.
Summary: AWESOME saddle!!! I love the look and feel of it, and my horse has never been more comfortable under saddle.
