Purchase: I ordered this sheet online from State Line Tack for about $45, as I wanted a summer sheet for my Arab, to keep his coat black, keep him clean, and act as a fly sheet. It seemed very lightweight, so I thought it wouldn't rub him. I ordered it in his basic size, 69.
Likes: It's a nice material, durable and easy to wash. It keeps my horse's coat nice and black as well as clean, and I've only found him sweating under it once, just on the nylon shoulder area. It truly is a summer sheet-he sweat right through my light weight Weatherbeeta cotton sheet, but this one keeps him nice and cool. Or should I say 'Kool'
Dislikes: Well, first off, the size 69 is more like a 74. It hangs about eight extra inches off his rump, and the tail flap is so giant it's hard for him to lift his tail, so the tail flap and leg straps get messy. Because it's big and the general cut of the neck doesn't fit his narrow chest well, it rubs his shoulder if on for more than 4 days, so I have to put a shoulder slinky under it-which makes him sweat as I leave it on during the day. Make sure you buy a size smaller for your horse, especially if they're narrow and petite like mine!
Quality: The material is very durable and light weight. It does indeed keep your horse cool at the same time as protecting from sun light and flies. The gussets are nice and large for freedom of movement. However, the sheet is sized way too large and the tail flap is giant.
Summary: I think if you have a thicker, large horse, this sheet would work perfectly. However, with a narrow horse, it just doesn't fit right-causing rubbing and worse. It really does keep them clean and cool though, which is great.
