Purchase: Purchased the saddle on eBay 3 years ago, new for $800--which was incredibly lucky! They seem to be going up in price and now sell for over $1600 even from discounted tack sellers. I thought it would suit my husband who is tall and has long legs but he needed a 19" so I kept this one, in 18", for myself.
Likes: The leather is gorgeous and the entire saddle is very well made and substantial. It was amazingly comfortable from day one. I like the extra forward flaps which are excellent for long legged riders. The big knee rolls are very secure feeling. I removed the thigh blocks which are fitted into place with velcro. The two-tone color is striking and will match black or brown bridles, but it's not too flashy and is suitable for foxhunting. The seat is so comfortable and gives such security.
Dislikes: I have no complaints at all.
Quality: Really excellent quality saddle. I also ride a Passier AP and we have numerous Stubbens. I rank this every bit as good. The leather is really luxurious.
Summary: I had not ridden in this saddle for a while because I didn't think it fit my young horse. I put it on him and it was perfect, so we went for a ride. What a delight! I felt tight as a tick and ready for big spooks and small fences immediately. I noticed my leg position was improved. The saddle looks great and rides better. The cutback pommel and deep gussets seem to fit well on a variety of horses. It's suitable for hacking, trail riding, foxhunting, and jumping. Well worth the price, even at retail.
