Purchase: I bought this saddle used on eBay for $1700. New it retails starting at $2700.
Likes: My half draft mare (16.2hh) hates conversionally treed saddles. I tried everything - extra wide, the Balance saddle line (had a fitting at a clinic with the Balance saddle people). Nothing worked. My horse was tense, short strided, hollow, rushed, and sore backed. All of this would disappear when I rode bareback. I tried several other models of treeless saddles, and didn't like the way that they rode. I had been riding my horse bareback for a year (!) because I couldn't find anything that fit, so I made the adjustment quite easily. I like that it gives you a bit of a twist so you are lifted up off the widest part of your horse's back - many other treeless saddles I tried didn't offer this - makes it very difficult to maintain a jumping position! My horse and I love it - no twisting, no rubs, no soreness, and I feel very close to her.
Dislikes: It is a different ride than a treed saddle - not uncomfortable, just different. I had no problems adjusting, but I had been riding bareback for a year prior!
Quality: Excellent quality leather, beautiful construction. Looks like a traditional saddle (important to me, as I want to show)!
