Purchase: I bought this saddle for my husband and his new MFT. I paid $643 and bought it over the phone directly from Crest Ridge, working with the owner, Debra.
Likes: I was so impressed with the amount of fitting information I got over the internet and phone with Debra that I felt confident that I would be able to fit our new horse. My husband wanted a light-weight saddle, was glad to have the low-maintenance aspects of cordura fenders and still have high quality workmanship, design and fit. I purposely chose this saddle because I felt the design and the solid gaited tree would keep both him and the horse more comfortable than other saddles I had looked at. We seem to have it right. The sweat patterns are even and there is a nice air channel over the horse's spine. Debra was a joy to work with, answering all my questions patiently and coaching me through the fitting process, using my photos and measurements much better than anyone I've worked with face-to-face. She could even tell how my husband sat in the saddle after the pictures from the first ride. I've recommended her company already to several of my friends.
Dislikes: I have no complaints.
Quality: This is a well made saddle, even though it is part cordura. The seat promotes a centered seat, the tree is a great fit for my gaited horse and it is good looking. I've seen too many flex trees sink onto the backs and withers of a horse with a rider's weight. That won't happen with this saddle. Crest Ridge design and workmanship is excellent. I'd love to own one of their beautiful tooled leather models too someday.
Summary: You can't beat the quality for the money - and the customer service and expertise is priceless. This buying experience is one time I felt like I had more help even from a distance than I often have face-to-face.
