Purchase: I bought my first horse when I was 16. I first bought a used wintec saddle and loved it. When I began showing in the hunter/jumper circuit-it was not an acceptable show saddle. I only had a $500 budget, which won't buy a well known brand (high quality) saddle. This is the only saddle I could afford ($350) that had the look I wanted. Since I have been riding since I was five and got my first saddle at 16, I have sat in many saddle including pessoa, collegiate, HDR, and many others. Honestly, this is the most comfortable and well seated close contact saddle I have ever used. It has lasted me over 6 years and still going strong!

Likes: I have dressage training, so I wanted a deeper seat than most close contacts. It gives that without the appearance of an AP saddle. It was not expensive, but the leather was great! It is soft and supple. The seat fits and supports my position perfectly. After over 6 years, the leather and stitching has not worn (except at the stirrup leathers).

Dislikes: The color didn't darken as much as I wanted it to, but it still looks really great. It started a chestnut color, now I would say it is "havana-ish". I wanted a deep mahogany color.

Quality: Very good for such a price. The stitching and billets are still very strong. It has many more great years ahead of it.

Summary: I have hear many people prefer Dover over State Line. My trainer was very skeptical of the idea at first, and begged me to buy a dover circuit for about double the cost. She thought the leather would be cheap and the seat would be all wrong. I have sat in Dover's, and wasn't too impressed. My State Line saddle has proved her wrong, and she now recommends it to other clients with a short budget!
