Purchase: I paid roughly $33.00 for this turnout sheet off of eBay. I needed a new turnout sheet and was reluctant to spend a lot of money as I have gone through a lot of sheets lately, and many of them were way more expensive. I figured at least if my horse ruined this sheet I wasn't going to be out a lot of money. I was counting on it being a "disposable" sheet.
Likes: I was so wrong about this turnout. It is not a "disposable" sheet. It really is built to take a beating. It's super tough and yet comfortable for my horse. The shoulders are lined and gusseted which is great for my active horse. It's 1680 nylon that is waterproof and breathable. I love that there is a double buckle front closure and elastic leg straps along with bias surcingles; this sheet hasn't been wiggled out of or shifted; and I have a Houdini horse who gets out of everything! I think the hip darts help with the stability of the sheet as well. The tail flap is a great extra for when my horse is out in the wind and rain.
Dislikes: Well like all turnouts it's not exactly pretty when on, but it wasn't bought to be pretty! It's not contoured down the back but that is also because there isn't a back seam because it's designed for turnout....so I can't truly complain on that.
Quality: The construction is actually better than my expensive turnout sheets! (which are all patched from being torn) I can't find any poor stitching. The sheet itself is made with a 1680 denier ripstop nylon. There are lined front shoulders with gussets. The gusset seams are sewn with a nylon binding. That same binding trims all the edges of this sheet, along with where the surcingles attach, making it very sturdy. There is fleece at the withers for comfort for the horse. All the hardware is solid and secure. My horse is turned out with three other horses and so far there isn't a rip, tear, or pull on this sheet anywhere; not even a loose thread, and these horses play rough and tumble!
Summary: Don't be fooled by the price. This sheet is worth way more than it sells for. I am very happy with it. I was honestly surprised at the quality and never, ever expected so much for something I paid so little for. I would highly recommend this sheet. It stays on; it stays dry and it has remained rip, tear and hole free! My trainer is even getting them for all of her horses. She too was amazed at the quality. It's one of the best sheets you can find, and the price simply can't be beat!
