Purchase: I first got these as a free sample from some online tack store when I had placed my first order. I can't remember the original company, but I now buy these in bulk (25#) at my local tack and feed store. They are around $25-$28 for a bag. I think you can order them cheaper off the Internet, but then you have to pay freight shipping. So I buy them local and pay a higher price because it comes out the same no matter which way I pay for them.

Likes: I like these treats because they don't rot like carrots or apples, so I can have them in bulk in my tack trunk. I have young horses and encourage them with food rewards at times to make training fun. All the horses seem to like them. They prefer the apple flavor to the peppermint flavor hands or hooves down!

Dislikes: I really wish they were a tad bit smaller. They are a bit clunky and I certainly can't ride with some in my pockets. The big size is ok for kids who seem to get their fingers in the way though!

Quality: Well, I suppose they are nutritional to some extent. The manufacturer says they are. I don't use them as nutrition just at treat so that's not that relevant. I wouldn't suggest using them for anything but a treat now and then! They come in a big bag. A plastic bucket would be nicer, as the bag gets ratty and by the end it's a pain to get the last of the treats out! Considering the price though, I'll deal with the icky bag and should probably invest in my own bucket!

Summary: Apple wafers are affordable, fun treats for your horses. Mine like 'em. They all run from the field when called cause they know they are going to get a wafer and that sure beats trudging through the fields to catch them. I am happy to give them a treat and they are happy to get caught! It's a win win situation. Anything that makes training easier and fun for you and your horse is worth it! A happy horse is the best.
