Purchase: I purchased this saddle 11 years ago--yes 11 years ago--from Rick's Heritage for $550. It was a non-used return with a tiny scratch on the cantle.
Likes: Almost all of my 1000s of endurance training and competition miles are in this saddle. VERY DURABLE, and I've NEVER EVER had a sore-backed horse. I've also jumped a ton in this saddle, and it served me very well for both disciplines. Easy care, this has been one tough saddle and has been comfy for all uses from ring, jumping, trail, and endurance competition.
Sold it for $300.
Dislikes: Was impossible to find a shaped saddle pad that fit it properly. Perhaps the newer Rivella models remedied this problem, but it was a pain.
I do think the stirrup bar might have been a bit to forward for MY anatomy. Switching to my new HDR that is a 17" fixed the problem.
Quality: Excellent construction, after years of use, the only stitching coming out was just over the left stirrup bar (cosmetic stitching only).
This saddle has held up well, and finally, the foam flocking has become "squished down" and I've sold it to someone who won't have as rigorous demands (and who will use a riser pad). Other than that, the saddle has been fantastic. Who can complain about the panels lasting 11 years and for 1000s of miles?
Flap leather was tough and never did get very soft, but I think this actually helped the saddle stand up to my use.
Summary: Excellent buy for the $$$. I loved it so much, once I sold it, I replaced it with another HDR.
