Purchase: Ordered for approx $55 from my local tack shop after reading about them online. I try to support the local shop, and the price was about the same as ordering.
I bought this saddle pad for use as a pad for endurance. I have to put my pad back in the car after I ride, and they STINK very bad. I was attracted to this pad's claim that it washes off and dries quickly, and that it absorbs shock and won't slip.
Likes: Has held up beautifully! This saddle pad does NOT rub in any way, it does not slip--even on a wide-withered pony. It does NOT smell, even when I put it in hot car and it hasn't been rinsed off. It hoses off and dries almost instantly if you shake it.
I've used it for training miles and for jumping. It's worked well for both uses.
I LOVE this pad!
Dislikes: I did not like the way the item is packaged...it is a square. Because it is plastic/rubber, it holds a weird crease for a while. I worked to get the odd creases out and it finally cooperated. The creases make it go down on the wither instead of up...so you really have to work to pull it up into the gullet when it's new. Also, folding the pad over a fence when it's hot outside will help re-mold the shape. Once you work with it though, it's fine...just takes a bit of effort that would be avoided if it were shipped rolled up or just flat.
I wish it came in more sizes and shapes.
Quality: Very well made, hasn't shown any wear, even around my billet straps. Hasn't compressed (squished down) over many hours of use. Neat that it can be cut to fit, but make sure the pad is fully broken in (the creases worked out) before you do that.
Summary: HIGHLY recommend. Even though a bit more expensive than a plain pad, this pad is MORE than worth the $ I paid. Holds up to the manufacturer's claims and, in addition, doesn't rub at all!
