Purchase: I was searching reviews for the best blanket for my horse's body type, which is short and stout. The blanket that I was using always slid to the side and I was constantly having to adjust it. So I finally decided to go with the Orican medium weight Freestyle. I purchased it from Jeffers last season for about $130.
Likes: I love this blanket!! It has no back seam, so there is no slipping or getting pulled off to the side. It stays put. I also love the quick clip buckles in the front. My horse has freedom of movement in this style blanket with the front gussets, this also helps to keep the blanket from shifting. I can say that this is the best blanket for my money,horse and climate. I am buying another for my other horse. I just can't decide on whether to get it with the detachable neck or not.
Dislikes: Nothing, other than color selection, but this is not a deal breaker!
Quality: Excellent! I used it all last winter and it held up great. I even washed it this summer with no problems. No fading or shrinking.
Summary: I highly recommend spending a little more and getting the quality you need. This blanket holds up to wear and abuse from young horses. And keeps them cozy too.
