Purchase: I bought this blanket on clearance this summer from Smartpak for $40! It's their exclusive smartblue plaid. I loved the color, and I couldn't pass up a deal like that.
Likes: This is a lovely blanket. My horse looks awesome in the Smartblue plaid. The outercoating feels kind of like a really soft fly sheet, so shavings etc just slide off. In my case, the blanket fits true to size, and it doesn't pull on my horse's super-high withers! That's a BIG plus! It has 300g of fill. The clips that attach the belly straps are so easy...you won't have to take your gloves off in the winter to fasten/unfasten this blanket!!!
Dislikes: Only thing: it's not deep enough on the sides for big-bodied horses.
Quality: This blanket is built to last! The hardware is very sturdy, and the outercoating of the blanket will resists snags, and the shavings just slide off. My horse is famous for completely demolishing his blankets, but he seems to either like this one or can't figure out how to undo those belly straps!
Summary: Bottom line: need a warm, sturdy stable blanket? This one is the one! Smartblue or Smartpink plaids make it an unusual blanket. It fits true to size, is easy on/off in the winter (no glove removal!), and nice and warm. Smartpak will also donate 10% of profit from these blankets to equine aid charities (smartblue) or breast cancer research (smartpink).
